Imoberliser problem on escort van on r plate diesel?

got diesel van, the light by the clock has decided to pack up , ive took the back off the ignition used a screwdriver to try and start it, the first click dont do anything the second click i get all the lights on dash but wont turn over at all which i know is wrong. ive got one red key thats it and i know the key has to be near the ring round the ignition and its not the battery any help please is there an auto electrition living in the kent that would come take a look , cheers marc.
